Los Haitises National Park: A Journey to the Past
Travel back in time to a world untouched by modernity. This private boat tour takes you into the heart of Los Haitises National Park, a sanctuary of biodiversity, ancient history, and spectacular landscapes.
Your Private Journey
After a scenic drive from your location, we'll arrive at the waterfront to board our private boat. From there, your adventure into one of the Caribbean's most important protected areas begins.
- Mangrove Forests: We'll navigate through the winding channels of the largest mangrove forest in the Caribbean. Your guide will help you spot the rich wildlife, from majestic pelicans and frigatebirds to the gentle manatees that inhabit these waters.
- Rock Formations (Mogotes): Emerge from the mangroves to witness the park's iconic landscape: dozens of towering rock islands (mogotes) jutting out of the serene San Lorenzo Bay.
- Ancient Taino Caves: We will disembark to explore historic caves like the Cueva de la Arena and Cueva de la Línea. Inside, you'll see original pictographs and petroglyphs left by the Taíno people centuries ago, a fascinating window into the island's pre-Columbian history.
- Cayo de los Pájaros: We'll circle "Bird Island," a small islet that serves as a nesting ground for hundreds of native bird species, creating a truly impressive natural spectacle.
The Pedro Taxi Difference
Experiencing Los Haitises with us is profoundly different from being on a large, crowded catamaran. We focus on a personal and immersive journey.
- Intimate Exploration: Our smaller, private boat allows us to navigate deeper into the narrow mangrove channels and get closer to the cave entrances and wildlife than larger vessels can.
- Storytelling, Not Just a Tour: Your guide is a passionate storyteller who will bring the history of the Taíno people and the park's ecology to life, transforming your visit from a simple sightseeing trip into a rich cultural experience.
- Comfort and Flexibility: Enjoy the comfort of a private tour, where the schedule is yours. We can spend more time in the caves that fascinate you or wait for the perfect photo opportunity without the pressure of a large group.
